The Kenya Registered Mental Health & Psychiatric Nurse Diploma programme is a specialized nursing program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the mental health field.

To qualify for admission to this programme, candidates must meet any of the following minimum requirements:

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C and a C in English, Mathematics, Biology, or Biological Sciences.

• Examine, assess, educate, and support individuals and families with mental health or substance abuse issues
• Administer psychotropic medications and help monitor and manage their side effects
• Assess mental health needs and develop a nursing plan of care.
• Ensure patient care, including medication, orders and treatment.
• Assist in emergency nursing procedures necessary for promote control of changes in patient(s) physical conditions.
• Maintain accurate medical records in liaison with records officer.
