Fisheries is basically the practice of rearing fish and other aquatic life. This practice can take place take place either inland or marine. Inland fishery deals with all forms of fish rearing or harvesting in any place other than marine (sea) water.

By the end of this course Students will be able to:

  1. Understand fish ecology including rearing, hereditary qualities, biotechnology, nourishment, cultivating, determination of sicknesses in fishes, other sea-going assets, therapeutic treatment of amphibian creatures;
  2. Handle Fish and other aquatic life through relieving, canning, solidifying, aqua waste usage, fish quality assesment, fisheries microbiology and fisheries organic chemistry;
  3. Observe fisheries condition including oceanography, limnology, nature, biodiversity, sea-going contamination;
  4. Study chemical and physical processes that affect productivity of aquatic ecosystems
  5. Study and identify suitable species for culture including development, adoption and transfer of rearing technology and procedure
  6. Monitor water quality and pollution in fresh and marine water environments
  7. Carry out socio-economic research on aspects relevant to fisheries, environment and other aquatic resources;
