About Course

Automotive by its very definition means self propelled. Of, relating to, or concerned with self-propelled vehicles or machines. Automotive engineering, is a branch of vehicle engineering, which focuses on the application, design and manufacturing of various types of automobiles. Automotive Engineering is an interdisciplinary subject which intersects with knowledge from other fields, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, and Materials Science.

 This course combines tools and methods used in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Safety and Software Engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of motorcycles, automobiles, and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems. These tools / instruments allow engineers to integrate functionality, safety, and aesthetic in order to create perfect driving machines. In the Automotive Engineering field, you can specialize in design, research and development, testing and quality control, or the production of vehicles and automotive components.

Qualification Required

To qualify for admission to this programme, candidates must meet any of the following minimum requirements:

1. A holder of KCSE D (plain) and above or its equivalent
